Biological
Science is rapidly discovering that there is a direct connection between what we eat (our gut health) and our mental and emotional health. Lifestyle factors such as diet, exercise, fresh air, sleep, hydration, and much more all contribute to whether a person is mentally healthy with a strong brain reserve or unhealthy with a low brain reserve.
Psychological
Our self-talk directly impacts our mood, self-esteem, and ability to manage stress. Automatic negative thoughts can plague our minds and lead to anxiety, depression, and struggles handling stress. In addition, our upbringing—the patterns we learn in our childhood, traumatic events, past successes or failures, grief, and loss—greatly impact our mental and even physical health.
Social and Relational
If you feel a positive connection to family, friends, and your community and you surround yourself with people who are mentally and physically healthy and stable, then you will be able to manage stress and traumas more easily. But many of us have moved away from our family and close friends, or maybe our family isn’t healthy, safe, or trustworthy. In addition, our fast-paced and disconnected lives make it difficult for many to make new friends. Loneliness is increasing, bringing with it depression and despair. Our intimate and romantic relationships also contribute to our sense of success or failure. At RMC, we will help you assess your sense of support and community, your relationship health, your finances, work or school, and your successes and failures. We will help you to create goals and take steps to become more connected, trustful, and confident in your social connections and your intimate relationships.
Spiritual
Humans are spiritual beings. This can be expressed and felt in our connection to God and to our sense of meaning and purpose. It molds our values and morals. It grounds us to understand why our lives matter and who we are accountable to and why. Without a spiritual connection, many people feel a sense of underlying despair and meaninglessness. Whether you consider yourself religious or not, we can help you to find meaning and purpose in your life. Many people have had negative interactions and even traumas with religion or religious people in their lives. We can help you to process these difficult subjects and help you to feel more connected to God in a way that is healthy and balanced. Maybe you are religious and want a therapist that will honor your beliefs and values. At RMC, we will listen to your concerns and needs. We will honor what is important to you in your journey with God.
