Individual Therapy

Individual counseling is a form of psychotherapy in which you work one-on-one with a therapist. Your therapist can help you manage stress, overcome depression and anxiety, manage OCD, phobias, or ADHD. Your therapist can help you process grief from a loss or life transitions from new relationships, new baby, kids moving out, parents getting older etc. Individual therapy can also help you manage relationships in your life, whether a romantic relationship, family members, friends or dating. Sometimes you just need someone to listen and let you process out loud and other times, you need an experts opinion on how to manage your emotions or relationships. Individual therapy can be scheduled weekly, every couple of weeks or once a month, depending on your needs. Progress happens with consistency. Initially it is best to see your therapist weekly or at least twice a month. Over time, as your symptoms diminish, you can reduce your session to monthly or as needed.

Couples Counseling

If you are in a romantic relationship, you know that having a great relationship is a lot of work. Sometimes it can be downright hard! In the old book “Men are From Mars, Women are From Venus” by Dr. John Gray, he describes just how different men and women really are. So much so, that it feels like we are from different planets. Communicating with each other can feel like learning a new language. It seems like we are using the same words but meaning different things. This leads to defensiveness which leads to fights. Do you feel that most of your conversations lead to fights? Your partner or spouse doesn’t listen or misunderstands your intensions? Maybe they assume the worst from you. In couple’s therapy, you will learn how to listen without defensiveness, speak from the heart, become accountable for the part you play in the negative patterns of interacting and express you desires in a way that inspires your partner rather than having them ignore you, criticize you or become defensive. Couples therapy can be scheduled weekly, every couple of weeks or once a month, depending on your needs. Progress happens with consistency. Initially it is best to see your therapist weekly or at least twice a month. Over time, as your symptoms diminish, you can reduce your session to monthly or as needed.

Health and Wellness Coaching

What is health and wellness coaching? Health and wellness coaches help you to develop healthy behaviors or habits, and in the process make ongoing and informed choices which in turn make your life better, healthier, more connected, and emotionally satisfying. Getting to the root of your problems is the first step to living a healthy and fulfilled life. In Health and Wellness Coaching, we will evaluate your health and figure out where you are out of balance. Healthy nutrition, exercise, managing stress, sleep, social connections and relationships, career, and home life are key areas that we will focus on. When one area is out  of balance everything else is affected. We will work on small doable steps to make changes that have a big impact.

Relationship Counseling

Relationship counseling helps you make the most of your relationships by setting goals, identifying your deep desires, helping you recognize and become accountable for the way you may contribute to negative patterns in your relationship, learn new skills to turn a difficult or average relationship into your dream relationship.

Relationship counselors can work individually with only one side of the partnership. Since it takes two to make or break a relationship, individual relationship counseling can help you to be accountable for your side of the conflicts and teach you skills so that you can show up as your best self.  This will increase the likelihood that any interaction you have in your relationships will be more positive and help you to achieve your goals of connection, intimacy and passion.

Relationship counselors can also work with singles who have a pattern of unsatisfying relationships, difficult break-ups and patterns of picking the “wrong” partner.

Relationship counselors can work with premarital couples to teach you skills to make your marriage amazing before negative patterns set in.

Finally, Relationship counselors can work with you on family dynamics.  This would include establishing family routines, family social times and family counsels to increase family bonding, improve the energy and atmosphere in the family and help to reduce tension and discord.

Functional Mental Health Therapy

Functional Mental Health Therapy focuses on helping clients get to the root cause of their mental health problems by using integrative approaches to treatment such as nutrition support and optimization using the current functional medicine research, vitamin supplementation, sustainable lifestyle changes, sleep health, establishing movement routines, stress management and weight optimization. Research shows that by using an integrative approach to treating mental health issues, the patient/client will not only see symptom reduction more quickly ,but the results will last much longer. At Restoring Minds Counseling, we will use an integrative approach in addition to traditional therapies such as CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy),Gestalt, ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) and many other modalities depending on the client’s individual needs. At RMC, we always take into account each client’s unique situations and backgrounds when deciding with you what the best protocol will be, and we can adjust your protocol according to your comfort level and physical, mental and emotional responses to treatment.

I work with individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, ADHD, OCD, stress and much more, who are interested in a more natural lifestyle approach to improve their mental health. The go-to treatment for mental health issues in the medical world is medication and talk therapy. While medication can be helpful in some circumstances, they can have very unpleasant side-effects and the majority of people suffering with mental health issues never find full relief with medication and traditional counseling alone. I will teach you how to change your diet and lifestyle to improve your mental health long term. The side effects will be more energy, better sleep, a vibrant outlook, a regulated nervous system to manage stress better and a calm brain.

If you are ready to try a more natural and lasting approach to not only improve your mental health, but fix the underlying causes of your struggles, contact me for a free phone consult. If you decide to work with me, we will look at your old patterns, habits and ways of thinking that might not serve you well anymore.  I will meet you where you are, and with my knowledge and skills guide you toward a healthier, more balanced and fulfilling future.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy

Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a form of psychotherapy with roots in existing evidence-based therapies but shown to achieve benefits much more rapidly. The process is very straightforward, using relaxing eye movements and a technique called Voluntary Image Replacement to change the way in which distressing memories and images are stored in the brain so that they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions.
